The markets closed early today before the 4th of July holiday tomorrow. We will be open on Friday, and we get the non-farm payroll number before the market opens. As for today, it was very quiet as traders and market participants are likely headed for their July 4th destinations.
Stocks did try to push a little higher and by the close the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 23 points to finish the day at 39,308. The S&P 500 was up 28 points to close at 5,537. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 159 points to close at 18,188. Gold was up $32 to trade at $2,365 per ounce, while oil was up $.35 to trade at $83.17 per barrel WTI.
Have a nice 4th of July everyone.
