May 13, 2024 | Market Commentary

Friends

Stocks were quiet as we head into a week where we will get inflation data in the form of the CPI and PPI. We also will hear from retailers this week with earnings due from Walmart and Home Depot. So, this week has a little more meat on the bone for traders.

As for today, by the close the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 81 points to finish the day at 39,431. The S&P 500 was down 1 point to close at 5,221. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 47 points to close at 16,388. Gold was down $31 to trade at $2,343, while oil was up $.95 to trade at $79.21 per barrel WTI.

Again, this week will have data and headlines that are almost surely to be market movers. Stay tuned, we’ll keep you posted.

Have a nice evening everyone.sT
