Stocks Push Higher

May 9, 2024 | Market Commentary

Friends

The bulls took advantage of the bears’ lack of enthusiasm and decided to buy stocks today. Remember, there isn’t much this week with regards to market moving headlines, so it appears that up is the direction of least resistance for stocks. What I’m trying to say is that I don’t know why stocks are higher today – LOL.

By the close, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 331 points to finish the day at 39,387. The S&P 500 was up 26 points to close at 5,214. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 43 points to close at 16,346. Gold was up $27 to trade at $2,349 per ounce, while oil was up $.63 to trade at $79.62 per barrel WTI.

It’s been a quiet week but still a pretty good one for the bulls. Let’s see how the week finishes up tomorrow.

Have a nice evening everyone.
