The bulls couldn’t muster anything more than a one-day rally evidently as stocks moved lower from the opening bell this morning and stayed mainly in negative territory for the entire trading session. I say mainly because the Nasdaq attempted to post a two-day winning streak and, in the end, was able to squeak out a small gain.
By the close, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 157 points to finish the day at 37,525. The S&P 500 was down 7 points to close at 4,756. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 13 points to close at 14,857. Gold was up $1 to trade at $2,034 per ounce, while oil was up $1.33 to trade at $ 72.10 per barrel WTI.
Though we have had a few earnings releases already, the season fully kicks in on Friday with releases from JP Morgan, Wells Fargo, Bank of America, Citi, Blackrock, Delta and United Healthcare. Then the following weeks bring us earnings season in full force. Hold tight, there are likely some choppy waters ahead.
Have a nice evening everyone.
