Good Start To The Week

Friends

Despite shares of aircraft maker Boeing acting as an anchor attempting to weigh down the Dow, stocks moved nicely higher during today’s trading session. The S&P’s 9-week winning streak was broken last week but the bulls got right back on the horse today and got the week off to a strong start. We’ll see if it lasts throughout the week as investors await earnings season to begin.

For the day, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 216 points to close at 37,683. The S&P 500 was up 66 points to finish the day at 4,763. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 319 points to close at 14,843. Gold was down $16 to trade at $2,033 per ounce, while oil was down $2.80 to trade at $71.01 per barrel WTI.

As we have mentioned, the next hurdle for the bulls is the upcoming earnings season. Stocks have moved higher in recent months heading into this quarter’s earnings reports so price reactions could be a concern. Stay tuned, we’ll let you know how this very important earnings season unfolds.

Have a nice evening everyone. Enjoy the Championship Game.
