Big Growth Names Bounce Back

Friends

Just when many market participants thought that the big growth stocks had finally run out of gas, AI news from Google helped stir the usual suspects – Microsoft, Meta, Google, Nvidia, Apple etc. So much for the big rotation, at least for today anyway.

As for the market in general, by the close the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 62 points to finish the day at 36,117. The S&P 500 was up 36 points to close at 4,585. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 193 points to close at 14,339. Gold was down $1 to trade at $2,047 per ounce, while oil was up $.26 to trade at $69.64 per barrel WTI.

Remember we get the all-important non-farm payroll number tomorrow. Moderating growth has been good for the markets. The key will be – are we heading for a landing (soft or hard) or will we avoid a landing (recession) altogether? Let’s see how the week finishes out tomorrow.

Have a nice evening everyone.
