Big Earnings On Deck

Oct 24, 2023 | Market Commentary

Friends

A somewhat calm bond market and good earnings from the likes of Verizon, GE, 3M, and Coca Cola helped stocks move higher, and this time it wasn’t just a handful of names that have been carrying the water all day. With that said, after the close today we will hear from Google, Visa, and Microsoft so those will be very enlightening.

As for today, by the close the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 204 points to finish the day at 33,141. The S&P 500 was up 30 points to close at 4,247. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 121 points to close at 13,139. Gold was down $5 to trade at $1,982 per ounce, while oil was down $1.71 to trade at $83.78 per barrel WTI.

As we mentioned, this week is all about interest rates and earnings. The big names are coming up earnings wise. Let’s see how the results look. Stay tuned.

Have a nice evening everyone.
