Stocks Mostly Higher

Friends

For the most part, stocks moved higher today led by the Nasdaq which posted a more than 1.50% gain for the day. All eyes will be on Fed Chair Powell and his comments at the Jackson Hole economic conference this Friday. Before that we have more earnings on deck including more retailers and big tech name Nvidia after the close on Wednesday.

As for today, by the close the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 36 points to finish the day at 34,463. The S&P 500 was up 30 points to close at 4,399. The aforementioned Nasdaq was up 206 points to close at 13,497. Gold was up $7 to trade at $1,923 per ounce, while oil was down $36 to trade at $34,464 per barrel WTI.

Given that bond yields edged higher today it was curious that stocks seemed not to notice or care. It should be an interesting week. Stay tuned.

Have a nice evening everyone.
