Stocks Forge Ahead

Jul 11, 2023 | Market Commentary

Friends

Stocks moved higher again today with the sleepy Dow Jones Industrial Average leading the way. Given that we are going to see a very important Consumer Price Index report tomorrow, market participants seem to be quite comfortable at the moment (well at least the bulls). The feeling is that the number is going to show inflation moderating further. We will see.

For the day, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 317 points to close at 34,261. The S&P 500 was up 29 points to finish the day at 4,439. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 75 points to close at 13,760. Gold was up $6 to trade at $1,937 per ounce, while oil was up $1.92 to trade at $74.91 per barrel WTI.

We should get some action tomorrow after the inflation report. Let’s see if the bulls can keep the momentum going.

Have a nice evening everyone.
