It looked like stocks really wanted to go lower today, but the dip buyers continue to stave off bigger declines these days. As mentioned last week we will begin to hear from Fed officials this week and some investors are concerned about the pontificating that could emanate from the bowels of the Federal Reserve. Will they try to talk the markets down as they have pretty much for a year now? We will see.
As for today, by the close the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 34 points to finish the day at 33,891. The S&P 500 was down 25 points to close at 4,110. The Nasdaq Composite Index was down 119 points to close at 11,887. Gold was up $3 to trade at $1,879 per ounce, while oil was up $.99 to trade at $74.38 per barrel WTI.
Though the big boys have mostly reported we do still have another week of reports to monitor this week including from the likes of Pepsi, PayPal, AbbVie, DuPont, Chipotle and more. Stay tuned, we’ll let you know how the week play out.
Have a nice evening everyone.
