The Bulls Stop The Bleeding (barely)

Dec 20, 2022 | Market Commentary

Friends

The bulls are trying. They really are. It was a somewhat quiet day of trading as the bulls were able to keep the market averages in the green (barely) most of the session. But after the shellacking that stocks have taken the last couple of weeks, today’s move was hard to get excited about. It is a full week of trading before the Christmas break, so the bulls have three more days to get Santa’s attention.

By the close the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 92 points to finish the day at 32,850. The S&P 500 was up 4 points to close at 3,821. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 1 point to close at 10,547. Gold was up $30 to trade at $1,827 per ounce, while oil was up $.83 to trade at $76.02 per barrel WTI.

One would think it might be a quiet week as we head into Christmas, but I’ve seen some crazy things happen at moments like this, just when you least expect it. So, we will keep a close eye on things for the rest of the week while we brace for the cold weather heading our way. Stay tuned.

Have a nice evening everyone.
