Don’t look now, but the bulls appear to be occupying the high ground at the moment. After a miserable first half of the year, the bulls have erased more than half of the decline in the S&P 500 despite the headwinds of inflation (possibly slowing) and a slowing economy (maybe not as badly as expected). For those of you keeping score at home the S&P 500 is up more than 11% for the 3rd quarter to date.
As for today, by the close the Dow Jones Industrial was up 424 points to finish the day at 33,761. The S&P 500 was up 72 points to close at 4,279. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 267 points to close at 13,047. Gold was up $10 to trade at $1,817 per ounce, while oil was down $2.47 to trade at $ 91.87 per barrel WTI.
Before we sign off for the week, I just wanted to let you know that here at CHJ we celebrated our 12th anniversary this week. It’s been a great ride and we are honored that you have allowed us to be your guide on your journey to financial freedom. As I often say we measure success not by investment return, but the confirmation that our clients are able to live their lives without financial concerns and put their head on the pillow at night knowing that someone is looking out for their financial well-being. Here’s to the next 12 years.
Have a great weekend everyone.
