After a decent week for stocks, it didn’t appear that any good vibes from last week were carrying over as trading began this morning. Stocks slumped throughout the trading session with Nasdaq faring the worst, and things did not improve as the day wore on.
By the close, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 164 points to finish the day at 31,173. The S&P 500 was down 44 points to close at 3,854. The Nasdaq Composite Index was down 262 points to close at 11,372. Gold was down $10 to trade at $1,731 per ounce, while oil was down $1.02 to trade at $ 103.77 per barrel WTI.
All eyes will be on this week’s CPI number which will be released on Wednesday morning. Also, this week begins a very interesting earnings season. Few companies have pre-warned which is interesting given expectations are so low. We’ll let you know how it all plays out as the week progresses.
Have a nice evening everyone.
