Big Earnings Week

Apr 26, 2021 | Market Commentary

Friends

It was a tentative day of trading as market participants brace themselves for an avalanche of earnings reports. We get a look at Tesla’s earnings after the closing bell today and then a plethora of important companies will be reporting as the week unfolds.

As for today, by the close the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 61 points to finish the day at 33,981. The S&P 500 was up 7 points to close at 4,187. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 121 points to close at 14,138. Gold was up $2.60 to trade at $1,780 per ounce, while oil was down $.24 to trade at $61.90 per barrel WTI.

As we watch for earnings from Apple, Microsoft, Google and Amazon (along with many others) we’ll be watching to measure the report itself and how the shares of the company react. Is good news priced in or will a stellar report push prices higher? How will the stocks of these companies react if the numbers aren’t as good as expected? How would the overall market react if there are some disappointments this week? Stay tuned, it should be very interesting.

Have a nice evening everyone.
