Quiet Tuesday

Feb 9, 2021 | Market Commentary

Friends
It was a quiet day on Wall Street. Volatility was muted and market participants didn’t seem too interested in making any waves as stocks simply drifted slightly higher or slightly lower throughout the trading session.
By the close, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 9 points to finish the day at 31,375. The S&P 500 was down 4 points to close at 3,911. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 20 points to close at 14,007.  Gold was up $1 to trade at $1,836 per ounce, while oil was up $.38 to trade at $58.35 per barrel WTI.
Still, the mood permeating the markets is good, as vaccinations are happening and Covid-19 numbers are falling. As usual, the question is whether stocks have priced in much of the coming better economic news or is there still a lot of room for share prices to go higher. Earnings season has been very good with companies beating estimates and continuously proving how resilient American companies are, even in times like we have just seen. Let’s see how this week continues to play out. Stay tuned.
Have a nice evening everyone.
