Quiet End To The Week

Friends

Stocks drifted somewhat aimlessly today, as market participants seemed happy just to see the week come to an end. There was no real good news, but I guess we could say that there was no real bad news either. Covid-19 continues to spread in the south and west, but at least the east coast, which bore the brunt of virus’ attack in March and April seems to be reopening smoothly.

As for today, by the close the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 62 point to finish the day at 26,672. The S&P 500 was up 9 points to close at 3,224. Gold was up $12 to trade at $1,812 per ounce, while oil was down $.13 to trade at $40.62 per barrel WTI.

It was a week of medical headlines. Good news on vaccines and not so good news on Covid-19 spread. Let’s dial it down for the weekend and we’ll be back at it on Monday morning.

Have a great weekend everyone. Stay safe.
