Friends
It appeared that everyone is ready for a 3 day holiday weekend. We don’t have anywhere to go, mind you, but at least we have a few days to unwind and try to get away from the stress of the Covid-19 world. To that end, trading was uneventful today. Stocks spent the day drifting above and below the breakeven line, with very little conviction. Again, maybe everyone is just mentally a bit tired.
For the day, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 8 points to close at 24,465. The S&P 500 was up 6 points to finish the day at 2,955. Gold was up $11 to trade at $1,733, while oil was down $.51 to trade at $33.41 per barrel WTI.
It wasn’t a bad week for stocks, but enthusiasm seemed to wane as the week progressed. Let’s enjoy the 3 day weekend and remember all of our veterans who gave their lives for this great country.
Have a great Memorial Day Weekend everyone.
Jim
