Stocks Explode Out Of The Gate

Jan 2, 2020 | Market Commentary

Friends

2020 got off to a nice start for the bulls today, though not all stocks participated. Small Cap shares struggled and the equal weighted S&P 500 was only up slightly, but nevertheless, Apple and other large cap tech names helped propel the market averages higher.

By the close, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 330 points to finish the day at 28,868. The S&P 500 was up 27 points to close at 3,257. Gold was up $6 to trade at $1,529 per ounce, while oil was up $.07 to trade at $61.13 per barrel WTI.

Many market participants may not be fully involved until we come back after the weekend, but regardless we’ll see how the week finishes out tomorrow.

Have a nice evening everyone.
