Stocks finally hit a little bit of a snag. With market participants just trying to get to the finish line, some unexpected sellers showed up to throw up a bit of a road block. For the first time in a while, a little selling wasn’t met with desperate buying. Now, we’re not going to read into any type of action on the penultimate trading day of the year, so let’s get to the finish line tomorrow afternoon before we start trying to decipher any new trends as we enter 2020.
By the close, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 183 points to finish the day at 28,462. The S&P 500 was down 18 points to close at 3,221. Gold was mostly unchanged, trading at $1,518 per ounce, while oil was down $.13 to trade at $61.69 per barrel WTI.
The market is open for a full day tomorrow, so we will be in the office until 3:00. Let’s see how the year finishes out tomorrow.
Have a nice evening everyone.
