Stocks Coasting Into Christmas

Dec 23, 2019 | Market Commentary

Friends

Just as last week, we don’t expect anything earth shattering to happen during this holiday week of trading. Today’s action was similar to last week’s trading with stocks up slightly on very little volatility. Once again, it appears that there are simply a lack of sellers as we near the year end. On the economic front we did get a lousy durable goods number and a lukewarm new home sales number, but no one seemed to care.

Anyway, by the close the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 96 points to finish the day at 28,551. The S&P 500 was up 2 point to close at 3,224. Gold was up $8 to trade at $1,489 per ounce, while oil was up $.20 to trade at $60.64 per barrel WTI.

Tomorrow is Christmas Eve and the markets will be open for a half day of trading. We will be in the office until noon if you need anything.

Have a nice evening everyone.
