Retail Sales Hot, Stocks Mixed

Jun 14, 2018 | Market Commentary

Friends

Despite a fantastic retail sales number, stocks were mostly quiet and mixed for the day, although Nasdaq was the winner. The 10 year Treasury note has actually slipped a little in yield since the Fed raised the Fed Funds rate yesterday, settling today near the 2.93% level.

As for stocks, by the close the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 25 points to finish the day at 25,175. The S&P 500 was up 7 points to close at 2,782. Gold was up $5 to trade at $1,307 per ounce, while oil was up $.32 to trade at $66.96 per barrel WTI.

It’s been a busy week with regards to headlines and economic data, but stocks have been relatively quiet. Let’s see how we finish out the week tomorrow. Stay tuned.

Have a nice evening everyone.
