Stocks were able to add to yesterday’s gains as the impressive recovery from both yesterday’s and Monday’s lows has been stunning. In total, stocks rose 1000 Dow points from Wednesday morning’s lows to today’s highs. Economic news has been good this week and we’ll get the government jobs number tomorrow.
By the close, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 240 points to finish the day at 24,505. The S&P 500 was up 18 points to close at 2,662. Gold was down $10 to trade at $1,329 per ounce, while oil was up $.26 to trade at $63.63 per barrel WTI.
Speaking of tomorrow’s jobs report, analysts are looking for 175,000 new jobs to have been created in March. Maybe more importantly will be the average hourly earnings number. That’s the one that caused a ruckus back in February. Analyst are looking to it to rise .3%. Let’s see what the jobs number has in store for us tomorrow and how this wild week finishes out.
