Despite a lousy retail sales number (could be affected by Hurricanes) and more drama from the North Koreans, stocks still advanced to new highs. It appears that the bears just can’t get a break, as despite all types of headline risk, stocks continue to forge ahead.
For the day, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 64 points to close at 22,268. The S&P 500 was up 4 points to finish the day at 2,500. Gold was down $5 to trade at $1,324 per ounce, while oil was up $.10 to trade at $49.99 per barrel WTI.
It has been quite a year for stocks. There is an old saying in the financial industry which says a bull market climbs a wall of worry. Touché.
Have a great weekend everyone.
Stay Strong Houston
