A Big Week Of Earnings

Jul 17, 2017 | Market Commentary

Friends

It was a quiet beginning to the trading week, but things should pick up as earnings start to roll out this week starting with Netflix after the close today. Throughout the week we’ll see reports from the likes of Johnson & Johnson, Bank of America, Goldman Sachs, Lockheed Martin, United Healthcare, IBM, Morgan Stanley, Microsoft, GE, Honeywell, Schlumberger and many more. So far we are seeing companies beat on the top and bottom lines, so we’ll monitor the earnings results to see if this positive trend continues.

As for today, by the close the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 8 points to finish the day at 21,629. The S&P 500 was down a fraction to close at 2,459. Gold was up $7 to trade at $1,234 per ounce, while oil was down $.53 to trade at $46.01 per barrel WTI.

We’ll also hear from central bankers this week, including the Bank of Japan and ECB. So we have a whole lot of earnings to pour through this week, and of course, it will be interesting to see how share prices react to both good and bad news. Stay tuned, it will be an interesting week.

Have a nice evening everyone.
