Stocks took a stumble in early morning trading as the Dow sported a triple digit loss before a buying reversal ensued. Box and Mall retailers were the victims today after another disappointing earnings report from Macy’s. Retail sales are fine, but Amazon and various specialty retailers are the ones garnering all of the sales.
As for today’s numbers, by the close the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 23 points to finish the day at 20,919. The S&P 500 was down 5 points to close at 2,394. Gold was up $5.90 to trade at $1,224 per ounce, while oil was up $.43 to trade at $47.76 per barrel WTI.
The bears took a run at it this morning, but were unable to do any real damage (other than retailers of course). Let’s see how the week finishes out tomorrow.
Have a nice evening everyone.
