As expected, trading was painfully light today, and the markets had very little movement during the session. Stocks did end on a positive note, but there was not much to get excited about. Perhaps caused by the government shutdown, the Durable Goods Orders number for October was disappointing, but the weekly jobless claims number trend continues to improve slightly. The Chicago PMI number was quite a bit better than expected, so once again domestic economic data is somewhat of a mixed bag.
As for today’s trading, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 24 points to close at 16,097. The S&P 500 was up 4 points to finish the day at 1807. Gold was down $3 to trade at $1238 per ounce, while oil was down $1.33 to trade at $92.35 per barrel WTI.
In addition to the office being closed tomorrow for Thanksgiving, we will be closing the office today at 3:30. We will be here until noon for the half day of trading on Friday. As this holiday for giving thanks is upon us, we would once again like to take the opportunity to thank all of you for entrusting us to manage your money. We hope you know how much we appreciate you, and we will continue to strive to help you reach your goals and provide you the best service possible.
Have a great Thanksgiving everyone.
